Do you Guarantee your service?

Terms: If you are not satisfied with the value of our Financial Life Planning Services, we will gladly refund your fees to you. The refund is available for 12 months following your engagement.

*Note that we do NOT guarantee that your investments will necessarily do well — it would be foolish for anybody to offer such a guarantee (except perhaps an insurance company — and you would pay extra for the "performance insurance"). What we do guarantee is that regardless of how well your investments perform, you will be satisfied with the value of the advice you receive from us, given the information available at the time the advice is given.

What Is A Fee-Only or Fee-for-service Planner?
A:

A fee-only advisor can only receive compensation directly from you (like an accountant or attorney) versus being paid by commissions from the sale of products.

A fee-only financial advisor cannot receive compensation from an insurance company, brokerage firm, a mutual fund company, or from any other source than you. This means they represent you and your interests when giving you advice.

We believe that many of the problems that beset Canadians today in their financial affairs – including the mismanagement of debt, failure to protect retirement assets and poor allocation of savings and investments – relate directly to the conflicts of interest that pervade the marketplace.

Why should I pay for financial advice with you when I can get it for free from my current advisor?
A:

A common misperception is that financial advisors provide their services for free. Most investors give little thought to the hidden costs they pay when an advisor recommends stocks and later receives a commission when investors buy in, or when an expert mutual fund manager picks stocks for a fund that charges significant management fees or front or rear loaded payments. Consider this: $100,000 invested for 25 years at 7% = $542,743 with a 2% management fee your $542,743 would end up $204,108 less or $338,635. The annual management fee of just 2% would be $2,000 on a $100,000 or $10,000 on $500,000.

However, not all clients are best served by the indexing approach. Some clients are better served with a discretionary investment counsel relationship or even a traditional brokerage relationship. We can guide you through your alternatives and help you make the decision that is right for you.

We recognize that investors can be their own worst enemy. Too often, they make emotion decisions that are inconsistent with their stated objectives. This is why we take so much time to work with you in order to define disciplined behaviors that can be used to guide your investment decision making. As mentioned before we do not sell investment products, only advice.

How do we get started?

For Tax & Accounting services: If you've been with us before, drop off, use our secure email or mail your documents. If you're new call our office for an appointment and we can show how our process works. You can also upload your documents and we'll call you if we have questions.

 

For Planning Services: To help you decide whether or not Solution One Financial is right for you, we start off every client relationship with an “FIT” meeting. What happens in this meeting? You talk. You tell us where you are, what you need, what you fear, what you want. We listen. If you like, we will share some tools to give you a flavour for what it’s like to be a client and answer any questions about our firm. From this point you have the opportunity to decide if we are a fit for you and we’ll do the same. Our Process for more details.
